Its time to relive the early 2000s with URY Alumnus Phil Pollard!
Former preswnter of URY's flagship new music show "The Vibe", Phil will be looking back to see if his predictions of bands that would make it big! He will also be bringing back aspects of his show "Uncovered" and we may even see the return of the classic "Evening Selection" quiz URY Re-wind!
University Radio York's flagship Sunday morning show. (for a small amount of time)
I played some quiet jazzy songs.
But I got bored of the idea when I realised that having the Sunday morning slot wasn't very impressive even if it was quite funny.
And also I was half awake.
Very nice life experience being forced to talk into a microphone in an empty room :)
I should probably listen back to these to make sure these audio clips don't cancel me but... for the most part, I trust that my that my younger self wouldn't get cancelled.
Feel free to listen back to these shows but I warn you- they're bad.
We're going to celebrate Longboi in all his glory, in the way he would have wanted.
Sparrow-Fart: "Very early in the morning!" Join Jay and Steve every week as they get up at sparrowfart purely for your entertainment. With a look at the mornings papers, some form of music and invariably some form of conversation, it's everything you would expect from a breakfast programme and more (or less).
As the saying goes, everyone gets theirs. University bigwigs, students, and campus in general have finally had enough of Jonny Long and Callum McCulloch.
In the ultimate act of media censorship, the powers that be have created an artificial island in the lake by central hall, and have duly marrooned our two entrepid protagonists upon it.
However, in an age of plummetting league table places, a disaffected student body, and general lack of extraordinarily funny people, the boys have been given a radio show to pass their time in exile, and also the option of recruiting one more person for their wiley band of vagabonds.
Therefore, they will be holding tryouts, live on air. There will be challenges, we will critique the songs you wish to bring with you, your luxury item better be on our list of things we need.
It's going to be sort of like The Apprentice, Only Connect, The X Factor, Raven, and a certain BBC Radio 4 radio show (that we can't remember the name of) all rolled into one.
The critics have called it a gamechanger, our mother's have called it a 2:2 waiting to happen.
All we know is that it's going to pop off in a big way.
It's dogs doing a student radio show.
Kino, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, is a gum obtained from certain tropical trees by tapping, used locally as an astringent in medicine and in tanning. And the Urban Dictionary defines it as flirtatious physical contact.
But those definitions are WRONG (if one was to proclaim as such in a group of linguistic experts then one would be most embarrassed and most likely expelled from the premises for causing a ruckus). But the only definition we care about is the following:
The highest form of artistry in the motion picture world.

Discussing our nre documentary live on-air (we would like to do this as a podcast as well if possible...?)

After a resoundingly unsuccessful round of interviews last term, the search continues. Expect such radio classics as Stevie Wonder's 5-a-day, Identity Theft, the unforgettable Mum-DMC and plenty more.
And if for some reason you miss the show, you can watch video highlights which will be posted on our Facebook page.
Rumour has it this is the best show URY has ever seen, and we would know, we started those rumours.
So named because of our wonderful neighbours on campus, we wouldn't want them gone! Just a bit of chatter and whatever music sounds good that week; rock, pop, or anything in between as long as it catches the ear and gets you moving!
Well, it's been a while hasn't it. Though, I've always known this show would happen at some point - the final show. I've done a lot of radio since autumn 2019, so it'll be interesting to see how it ends.
Tune in to hear URY:PM with K-Spence for 2 hours of fun and music. Lots of new things this term including 'Yorkie Porkie', 'What's the Crunch?' and 'Let me seduce you'. Lots of giggles and lots of fun. Enjoy xox
Some jokes, some music, some banter, and a lot of fun! I will be playing some of my favourite songs from all genres and having a few guests on to just have a bit of chit chat for some easy listening :) there is potential for talks about unicorns and the duck life around the campus and would you rather!!
RAHHHHHHH!
Who wouldn't want to lose themselves in some heavy hits on a Friday Night?! Join Matty from Save Six Songs, and dive into the depths of Metal, Nu-Metal, Metalcore, Hardcore, Post-punk, and so much more! Whether you're a newbie to the scene or a pit veteran, everyone is welcome. Relax, let your hair down and get ready to bang your head - although Matty's lawyer has advised him to tell you to be careful not to hit your surroundings.
Be sure to expect completely unplanned guests (and occasionally unplanned shows), regular witty banter, uncalled for shout-outs, and of course loud and sometimes very explicit songs (It's alright, we're past the watershed.)
The Big Sofa graced the York Uni airwaves all the way back in 2001, when Rach was a psychology undergrad living in a breezeblock prison called Goodricke C Block.
Since then Rach has graduated (hurray! They said it would never happen!), moved away (now living in Mordor (Morden), London), worked three different jobs (evil corporate advertising; bonkers Virgin Radio; the BBC), birthed three kids (two boys, one girl), become a stand up comedian (three years in, still haven't done Live at the Apollo) and QUIT RADIO (sob.)
This last one makes her incredibly sad.
So Rach is ecstatic to be back behind a microphone. Join her for this one off two hour show and listen to the joy plastered all over her face.
Doctor Who is back!!! Join us in analysing the three 60th specials and having many opinions.
Stewart Dennis brings 'Realm of Dusk' back to the airwaves on URY. Originally on-air between 1987 and 1990, expect to hear a mixturee of Indie / Alternative from the likes of Ride, My Bloody Valentine, The Fall, The Smiths and the Pixies.
If you could only listen to six songs for the rest of your life... what would you choose?
Join me to peek through the window into our weekly guest's life, as we discover more about their relationship with music, and why they have chosen the songs that they did. Undoubtedly there will be witty banter along the way, as well as some incredible tunes. It's really something you wouldn't want to miss.
I love to hear from people from all walks of life. If you'd like to join me on my show, why not get in touch? You can contact me via my page in the "Sport" section. But the question remains...
...what will you save?
