Fun times with Fran and Chris
Why so serious?
This show aims to get rid of those essay and exam blues. After all, it's summertime and therefore time to relax, smile & have fun!
The Children's Hour
If you don't like this song, wait for the next one. As eclectic as is possible. I'll be playing leftfield hip-hop, electronica, dubstep, acid, ragga, psych rock, genuine indie, lots of music from the currently burgeoning weird-folk scene, reggae, dub, world music and Tom Waits. I will also report back from the many gigs I attend with examples of what was played.
The Scott Bryan Show
The Hangover Pill - Music, tea, newspapers, exam relaxation and chat to keep you informed and help you on your way. The afternoon show will contain the main music releases and some unsung and modern classics, as well '15-minutes' where all the music is within a certain genre. There's a news review of the papers, interviews with those connected to the University issues that matter and regular link-ups with Bailrigg (Lancaster) ahead of the Roses competition.
URY Evening Selection: Charlotte Millar
Finish the first week back with Charlotte - whether you've had a week of exams, sleep or alcohol poisioning, she'll have something for you.
URY Lunch with Rob

URY News Special: Is It High Time? The Debate Over Legalising Drugs

In this special hour-long programme from the URY News Team, we examine the debates surrounding the legalisation of drugs. Is prosecuting drug-users the way to stop the UK's problem with drug addiction? Should harmful substances be legalised, or decriminalised? Or would this cause more problems than it solves? We'll be hearing all sides of the argument, including the view from the NHS, a criminal lawyer and former York student turned journalist and author Peter Hitchens, as well as lots of student opinions on the matter.

Acoustics

Acoustics is back!

A comedic (hopefully) and disastrous (definitely) student radio show, created in the midst of exam season to let out some steam with live acoustic sessions from upcoming artists and curious questions leading to impossible debates.

Alex and Anna's PM Antidote

All of the fun and frolicks of our AM Antidote but shifted later into the day. Let's face it, exams are over, you're not going to be out of bed much before noon anyway.

Wake up happy with Anna Henley and Alex Osborne.

Open The Pit

Open The Pit: Hardcore music for hardcore people! + a tad of chill and acoustic when the time is right!

The Re-LAX-ation Hour

Partners in crime Loz and Nath have accepted a mission to take the world of post exam URY by storm! After exams are done it's time for some Re-LAX-ation with your favourite lax peeps!

URY Headspace

The team discusses the issues facing the students at the University of York. They also offer a friendly forum for students. Kirsty Taylor reports and interviews.

A Couple of Everyday Feminists

This show will predominantly focus on feminism/equal rights and deal with a different women's issue/equal rights issue every week. For example, one week we may discuss the crazy cat lady phenomenon and another might discuss the "feminism is extreme" assumption. We are hoping to incorporate issues that women face around the world also. All kinds of genres of music will be played, not necessarily relating to the topic for the week but just music that we want to share with listeners.

Alumni Takeover: Big Breakfast With Pete and Cat

For a very special one-off show, two so-called 'legends' of URY return.

They entertained listeners for literally minutes while on air together during the heady days of 2016/17, so expect plenty of nostalgia and in-jokes that you definitely won't understand.

Nevertheless, it'll be worth a listen, just for an example of how not to move on from university.

They'll bring you some stonking tunes, funny features, and magical memories that will wind the clock back to when URY was just a pre-pubescant 48-year-old.

Tom's Exam Open Season

Tom decides the only way to get himself to correct his sleep schedule and get any actual revision done is to do, like, a lot of radio at unreasonable times. Listen in for a man pretending everything's okay while his academic world threatens to completely shatter around him! Also music!

Forenoon Fire Up!

Does your morning leave you feeling frazzled? Does it feel more like a Fried-day?

Now back on with the best of my recommendations and the worst of my on-air radio voice (because yes, I'm just as fried as you are).

Towells' Midweek Break

It's the middle of the week. You've been picked on in your webinar, the reading didn't make sense and even at double speed the lectures are beginning to drag. You deserve a break. Join Alex Towells for an hour of chill tunes and laid-back chat - go on, you've earned it.

I'm So Turned On Right Now: Summer 2021

It's lockdown, it's midnight, and a masked vigilante is standing on a stool in a server room - it can only be one thing, the return of URY for Summer Term 2021! Tune in to hear what it sounds like when increasingly tired and stressed presenters dally about on air for a couple of hours, and see how long it takes us to start crying about Summer exams.

The Procrastination Station

Hi there! I procrastinated organising the 2-hour primetime shows I was going to do for the last few weeks of term once exams were up. Therefore, you get this one-hour show, which is like a warm up for the two hour shows I'm going to do soon. Keep an eye on the schedule next week...

Hi! My name's Alex, and welcome to a show I shouldn't do.

lo fi URYwave beats to do your exam to

We all know you didn't get it done during the day, so you're pulling an all-nighter, so here's to lo fi URYwave. Whatever that means.

The Feel-Good Show

It's Thursday, you're more than halfway through the week! *crowd cheers*

I'm Claudia and mornings aren't my thing, in fact, I SUCK at waking up early. I find that doing things I love like traveling makes rolling out of bed a lot easier. There's a reason waking up at 4am to catch a flight is MILES easier than waking up at 4 am to write an essay. Radio is one of those things, and I love a good happy song to go along with my coffee and start the day off on the right foot. After all, if your morning playlist isn't making you feel like the main character of a film who's about to take over the world...what are you even doing? Let me give you some suggestions, and let's chat about funny and happy things only. We all need more of that, especially around exams.

Join me every Thursday morning for your weekly boost of serotonin. Let's get over yet another early alarm together, shall we? Tune in*, it's time to boss it.

*A nice cup of coffee is strongly recommend but not compulsory.

Lucy's Lore

An ode to low dopamine and slow living, to being warm, to being kind to yourself during exam season and getting enough sleep.
