New Morning

Tom Morello once said that ‘every successful, progressive, radical or revolutionary movement that has ever been seen has had a great soundtrack’. We bring you these soundtracks. Each week we have a different theme and movement, playing the songs that have provided impetus for change and given people a voice.

Wake Up With Wallbank

Designed to get the sleepyheads out of bed, Wake Up With Wallbank provides a mix of cheerful chatter, tantalising tunes and insightful interviews all based around the theme of the week.
Each week will have a morning related theme, be it breakfast cereal or alarm clock troubles, that will be dealt with in a unique fashion.
If Oscar Wilde was right when he said 'only dull people are brilliant at breakfast', then Mike Wallbank must be one of the dullest people this side of Thirsk, as this show is guaranteed to get you geared up for the day ahead.

Building Bridges - The Road to Rock and Roll

Who said rock needs to be moody and agressive? In this show I play radio friendly, fun rock music in an effort to encourage pop listeners to branch out. With occasional theme shows such as woman rock stars only, or a celebration of great Guitar Solos, this shows ams to deliver a fun way for the casual music consumer to discover a new genre!

Pop Rocks

I've named my show Pop Rocks because I have a mixed taste in music, I have a love for any kind of rock, indie, metal, classic to any kind of pop we're talking cheesy 90's all the way up to nowdays' charts. If you have an equally mixed love for these genres then i'd suggest giving my show a listen! And for you Green Day lovers! - pop rocks and coke?

With that said if you're planning to give my show a listen expect variety!

URY Brunch: Three's a Crowd

End your week on a high with Frankie, Andy, and Isabel for a jam-packed show with fun, great music and topical chat! We'll have weekly segments where we see hosts face off as they debate each other; a chance to rant about anything annoying us that week in Soap Box; and one of our all-time favourites, Who Said It: Tracy Beaker or Trump? You'd be a fool to miss it!

Alumni Takeover: The Big Sofa

The Big Sofa graced the York Uni airwaves all the way back in 2001, when Rach was a psychology undergrad living in a breezeblock prison called Goodricke C Block.

Since then Rach has graduated (hurray! They said it would never happen!), moved away (now living in Mordor (Morden), London), worked three different jobs (evil corporate advertising; bonkers Virgin Radio; the BBC), birthed three kids (two boys, one girl), become a stand up comedian (three years in, still haven't done Live at the Apollo) and QUIT RADIO (sob.)

This last one makes her incredibly sad.

So Rach is ecstatic to be back behind a microphone. Join her for this one off two hour show and listen to the joy plastered all over her face.

,,,,,Chameleon

Wham! The radio has landed back in a time when a guy called Frankie Said Relax and a girl called Rio danced upon the sands. It's the 1980s (again) so apply the hairspray, make up and dance like the audience on Top of the Pops!

Alumni Shows: Retrospectre! with Matt Windsor

If Mr Motivator can make a surprise comeback to airwaves in these interesting times... so can Retrospectre!  Yes, it's that URY show from the early 2010s with that person that said those words and played those songs.  Join Matt 'Not Stratford' Windsor from the comfort of their inadequately acoustically designed bedroom in North Yorkshire as they haunt URY like the spectre of leftist political ideology with choice cuts from the 80s, 70s, and the 80s again, while complaining about nearly being 30.

Put the kettle on and grab yourself some toast - just like my dissertation deadline, a new day is dawning. Like the great Kylie Jenner once said: 'Rise and shine' <3
