Gina and Tom return for a new year with a new name and format. Playing a wide variety of music, with new features but the same old personalities.
Back and better than ever, Alex Light guides you through what has been going on in the past week in the land of music, news and on our very own campus. We'll take a look at URY's Album of the week and delve through the archives to select our own personal classic album of the week.
Get your songs played by contacting us and taking part in our playlist project and listen to some of the hottest new music from around the world and even download some of it with our free music recommendation of the week.
A Vinyl-Only music show, filled with tracks from our personal collections and what we find crate-digging in the UoY vaults, with possible attempts at wit between songs.
The History Programme explores a new historical topic each week with insightful analysis by presenter Jack Staples-Butler, a URY News veteran and history enthusiast. Visiting a new place on the timeline of human history every episode, the programme will feature investigation and explanation of diverse epochs, movements and personalities. From the late Roman Republic and the assassination of Julius Caesar, to Henry VIII and the Reformation, to the Second World War and the Swinging Sixties, The History Programme takes listeners to the heart of enthralling and divisive historical arguments and debates with the perspectives of experts and eminent scholars living and dead. History is the constant dialogue of past and present - come and join the discussion.
Music show hosted by James Rudge and Sophie Brear playing both old and new indie and alternative with a few oddballs thrown in (by this we don’t mean ourselves…..)
We look back at the life and work of David Bowie, looking through URY presenters own personal memories, favourite songs and his amazing influence on the world of music today.
Looking from his earliest singles in 1967 all the way to his most recent album Blackstar, we'll dig deep in to our archives and find the best songs Bowie both sang on, produced and wrote.
Five weeks out of ten, I present this show on Wednesday. Thus spawned the title of this programme. The word 'Maraud' means to loot. In this case, we maraud for ears!
Marauding through the URY Vaults and his own personal collection, Elliott Ball brings you an all vinyl show of varied music.
Bringing some old personal favourites as well as the latest releases, music from this day in history, and some guilty pleasures
The URY Speech team invetsigates the role of gender identity in our society. Our aim is to raise awareness of the different types of identity, and to address related topics such as the representation of gender in the media, politics, and law, as well as looking at the history of gender and personal perspectives from students. Georgie Norgate interviews a variety of people to learn about their personal experience with gender and some issues they have come across as a result of their gender identity.
After we made the Gender Documentary, we had a panel to discuss some of the questions raised. Our aim is to raise awareness of the different types of identity, and to address related topics such as the representation of gender in the media, politics, and law, as well as looking at the history of gender and personal perspectives from students.
Fascinating glimpse into the broken personal lives of dysfunctional second years, with music when it gets too awkward.
This is Matt Strat's only personal show in 4 years of being a student in URY (and beyond). Better late than never!
In this one-of-a-kind show, expect dubious presenting, modern music reviews and continuous panic to fill the time!
Or, as Michael Grace puts it: Matt Strat Matt Strat Matt Matt Matt Strat Strat
Beth and Chess get up close and personal with different socities on campus! Every week, we will be chatting a different society, finding out what they are about, what makes them tick, and why people should join them. There is something new in every episode, so make sure to listen on catch up if you miss one!

However, we will not, under any circumstances, be discussing Roger! Do not ask me why!
Join URY's biggest 1970s fan with this deep-dive into some of the best singles of the 1970s. Each week we will look at a specific year from the 1970s, playing some of the biggest hits along with personal picks. However, be warned, this show is not for the feint of heart, it may contain some historical content, long rants about niche artists and far too much Elvis Presley (if thats even a thing?)!
The University of York is home to more than 18,000 students from over 150 countries. Each student has their own story to share, their experiences from back home and here at York as well and wouldn't it be interesting to have a platform for students to share these experiences about themselves along with playing some of their favorite songs? In India (where I come from), we discuss a range of matters, be it trivial, personal, or anything out of the ordinary over a cup of tea (or "CHAI", as we call it back home).
If you would love to share your story and experiences over the radio for the listeners, "Chai With Y!" is the place to be at! One hour of getting to know the real you over a hot, piping cup of chai, along with some fantastic music!
