ARE YOU BRAVE ENOUGH?
URY and Litsoc present a frightening live horror event happening right here on York Uni campus this Halloween.
Taking place in complete darkness in the very creepy location of Heslington Hall, we dare you to listen to 3 originally written and produced horror stories.
It is a FREE event, no tickets needed, just a lot of nerve. All the scares and screams will be broadcast LIVE on URY as well at 6-7pm this Halloween.
So if you think you can last the hour in pitch black darkness we challenge you to come and be part of a special one-off URY event.
Good luck, we'll be waiting...
URY News Special - Student Media: York Hitting the Headlines
Join the national award winning URY News team for a special edition of the Newshour with George Lane.
This programme covers student media on campus - With all the recent scandalus headlines and questionable reporting techiniques, is student media a useful and necessary outlet? Or are student journalists just in it for enhancing future career prospects.
We speak with the student media, York Universty Students Union, external 'student' news sources, and industry experts including BBCs Chris Smith.
Tune in at 6pm, Wednesday 26th November 2014, live on ury.org.uk
The Title is pretty self-explanatory. It is a show in which i shall play Hip-Hop. So peace out sit back and relax whilst i bring you a fine selection of carefully selected banging tunes to play for you lucky listeners.
A 'carefully' 'crafted' mix of music, both obscure and obvious, from the 70s, 80s, and (god forbid!) the 90s.
Join us as URY host the YUSU Elections Results Night 2015. With George Lane and Caterina Soave taking care of analysis of the results and URY's very own Harry Whittaker, Alex Light, Claire Thomas and Hattie Chatfield on stage revealing the results on the night.
A carefully curated selection of broadly "alternative" (whatever that means) tunes from the classic to the eclectic, with a special nod of fondness to the arty and pretentious. Yes, "classic alternative" is kind of a contradiction in terms, but here at Speed of Life, we embrace paradox to the point of meaninglessness. Occasional themed weeks provide welcome respite from the usual swirl of chaos.
Welcome to the Current Affairs show for those who don't care about Current Affairs. With one ordinary man on a street, a semi-knowledgable co-presenter, and a sarcastic sidekick, The Wrong Stuff team will take you through the major events of the week in a lighthearted way that will show that they sort of know what they're talking about...I think.
Is all you cook pasta and pesto? Are you scared by words like 'basting' and substances such as 'oregano'? Have no fear, a jolly man is here to show you how easy Christmas cooking can be this festive period. From the kitchens of the Royal York hotel, the head chef will tell you how to pull off that perfect Turkey with ease.
What's popping? Join Ellie and Zak on an epic pop adventure as we seek to find out what artists we've been sleeping on or what pop jams need to be added to your playlists asap. Get woke and let's get popping.
Join Kaja and George for an hour of insane tests. We will establish once and for all whether George could pursue an alternative career path
We're back! (Ouse's back, alright, alright). Tune in to Have I Got Ouse For You for dodgy jingles, dodgier music, very dodgy links, somehow even dodgier jokes and a somewhat sincere attempt to wind up the week for our listeners, now with a new timeslot - Sunday at 9pm.
Yes, we started at 11pm and now we're there. I don't care what the others think, I want that flagship slot.
After 6 years of radio retirement, Daz and Em are back to present one final show on University Radio York.
We have been invited to celebrate URY’s 50th Anniversary with a blast from the past, where we will meander down memory lane rediscovering all your favourite non-award winning features from Daz and Em's illustrious radio career, including Name that Tone and Back to the Future!
Stewart Dennis brings 'Realm of Dusk' back to the airwaves on URY. Originally on-air between 1987 and 1990, expect to hear a mixturee of Indie / Alternative from the likes of Ride, My Bloody Valentine, The Fall, The Smiths and the Pixies.
The end of the uni year is nigh, and as such, so is the end of a few URY Careers. Yes, it's time to get ready to move on from uni and into the real world, while of course staying at a respectful two metre distance. Join us as we reminisce about the last few years, and close off the academic year with a bang! (Hopefully not from Stores...)
