This week we are doing something a little bit different...
We are in conversation with Sarah and Emma's beloved theatre lecturer Dr Rebecca Benzie who specialises in Feminist Theatre. So naturally, we have a lot to talk about!
Head over to our Instagram @talkingaboutitpod and let us know what you want us to talk about!
Annie from URY's music team interviewed Norweigan art-rock band Pom Poko in York, ahead of a show at The Crescent. They recently toured the UK in celebration of the release of their newest album: "Champion". They talked about how they think visual art and music mesh together, in the creation of album covers, and they gave us a run down of what artists would play at their dream festival.

It’s breast cancer awareness month, so what better time to talk about all things boobs!
Join us this week as we talk about our own experiences with our boobs, buying and fitting into bras, what others said about us and how we felt about it all.
We also chatted to Emma from CoppaFeel! breast cancer awareness charity who answered all of our questions!
Visit coppafeel.org for information, advice, how to check and get involved.

Alma, URY's Head of Music, brought Uni BandSoc band Suspicious Liquid into the studio for a chat ahead of a show the band are playing in Leeds. They talked about how they formed, what it felt like winning the BandSoc Battle of the Bands earlier on in the year, and the venues they'd love to play in the future. Be sure to catch them on the 11th of October at the Royal Park Pub and Cellars, to see if they get crowned the official "Sound of Students in the North"!

Freddie and Phoebe from the URY music team recently interviewed Leeds-based jazz fusion band "Plantfood", ahead of a show at The Crescent in York this month. They chatted about the Leeds jazz scene, tips on how to enter the music scene if you're just starting out, and the creation of their newest EP "Carnivores" (including the songwriting process and the design of its cover art).
Ladies, have you ever felt like you can't get a word in when speaking in a group of men? Have you ever felt like you have to put a lot more work in than a man has to be respected? Well we have, so let's talk about it!
On a mournful, drizzly afternoon, Greg James unveiled the late great Longboi statue at the University of York. Immortalised in bronze, the boi will watch over Derwent lake with a cheeky expression and a shining, almost regal aura. In that spirit, URY's Station Manager Joe Brearley sat with Greg and asked him some silly questions. Quack!

Listen to Max, Simon and Esther as they discuss what to expect on arrivals day, our plans for Freshers Week 2024, a healthy study/life balance, and seeking support if you need it!
Annie Davison, our music team's interview coordinator, recently sat down with Jeffery Lewis, frontman of the anti-folk group "Jeffery Lewis and The Voltage". As someone who thinks of himself as a comic book artist before a musician, they talked about the comparison between making visual art and putting together a song. They also discussed the differences he finds with using Spotify versus Bandcamp, and the unique way him and his band plan tours. Through listening to this interview, you will also get a sneak peek into what it's like being in The Crescent's green room while a soundcheck is going on - mild apologies for that.
URY's Annie Davison sat down in The Crescent's green room with UK post-punk band DEADLETTER, ahead of a sold-out show. They talked about the changes they've experienced within the York live music scene over their time as a band, and how it feels now to be playing shows down in London. (warning: explicit)
