With minimal talking and a focus on avant-garde and underground music, Experimental Jet Set harkens back to the college radio stations in the United States and UK in the 20th century, whose dedication to music below the mainstream championed and gave a voice to generations of experimental, alternative musicians and art-rockers - including Sonic Youth, whose 1994 album the show's name is derived from.
