It's URY's biggest Freshers' week, 8 Days, 8 Colleges, one massive prize pot! Plus additional prizes to be won everyday as we tour the entire university.
2 hours of rambling between two melts who sound like they hate each other. Covering a massive range of music and an even bigger level of cringe. Coming from the lads with perfect faces for radio that not even their mothers could love. S/o to Mary and Maryam xxxx big love
Join Chess Warren for Rhythm of the Knight LITE. From massive dance tracks to indie R&B, it’s going to be good vibes all round; the soundtrack to your lockdown. Just what you always wanted x
URY’s established experts of dry wit and nattering sit down to discuss where the cards lie after the country’s first “virtual” A-Level results day. Expect irreverent giggling, massive amounts of ‘closet’ jokes and guest appearances from anyone who can guess the comically bad password to their meeting room.
This results day from 7 am to midnight, URY will be broadcasting LIVE coverage as people receive their A-Level results across the country. With fresh content specifically aimed at the University of York's offer holders and those on the clearing lines, tune in for a day of top (available) presenters giving you the true York experience.... or Yor-xperience... (don't worry, you'll get used to all the “Yor-” puns)
We ask our guests parents to create a list of 10 songs from 10 artists of their favourite stuff and then review it! Due to parents' eclectic taste, this will usually vary massively across the whole show in which we will talk alongside this about the music and the memories associated for the guest or just memories about the parents, good or bad.
I didn't want to do another 2 hour show by myself again because my music taste isn’t massive enough to warrant picking that many songs without the show accidently turning into a specialist music show that i am really bad at presenting since I don't know anything about the songs. Also now I can at least have an idea about what will be spoken about without forcing a funky fresh freestyle (hit me with a beat however and I will drop some heat). Perhaps a producion of some techy edits in this show could occur as well as actually attempting to have a rough plan beforehand. This particular University Radio York broadcasted show could go well or it could crash and burn miserably but i hope it will be the former. If you are listening by miraulous chance- due to the fact that this student ran radio station with full AM, FM and Online capabilities doesn't get as many listeners as Capital FM with regular advertisement for car insurance- then i hope you enjoy! Also a few tangents might happen!
Big Love,
Papa Yakov
tl;dr Yakov’s end of second year sunday show- this time an hour but still right before Harry Austin’s Sarcasm And Songs.
Join Harry 'Who Does Law' Reeves, James from James from Jams from James from James and AL for the most mind-boggling two hours of radio you will ever hear. Expect canoodley games, massive funnies, beef reports, NOW classics, all the music EVER (except Lil Wayne and Steve Winwood, I don't like Steve Winwood. He was bad at the coronation, does anyone even like the song Higher Love?) and of course some top tier chat as seen above.
Now, that's what it is.
Join Harry 'Who Does Law' Reeves, James from James from Jams from James from James, and AL for the festive special of NOW We're Talking!

"What name is given to the genre of dance music that was developed in the UK in the early 1990s out of the rave scene and reggae sound system culture associated with acts such as 'A Guy Called Gerald' and 'Goldie'?
Drum and bass?
We can't accept drum and bass, we need Jungle I'm afraid." -University Challenge (2024)
On this show I ask Charlie Bradbury, rainforest expert, how massive the jungle really is and what's so cool about it?
