It’s too early for Pre-drinking, meaning we’re not nearly ready enough to say the glorious word “prinking” – unless of course, you decide to join us! Stef and Taz, your radio buddies readying you up for Prink O’clock, when you’re getting ready to take out the voddy and leave your dignity at home. Whether you’re Fresher’s like us, or you want to return to ‘Fresher’ days, we will be broadcasting music that takes you down Memory Lane and tracks that psyche you up for one of York’s Best Student Nights!
A show to turn even the lamest of squares into far-out foot tappers.
Over the course of the show, extreme levels of rockabilly will be pumped through the airwaves of URY, from Elvis Presley to The Big Bopper, all with the intention of providing maximum satisfaction.
The show will consist of anecdotes relating to the music in question, explorations into the popular themes and concepts of rockabilly/rock 'n' roll (such as a show dedicated to 'Death Discs'), as well as interviews with individuals who remember watching the rock 'n' roll stars of the 1950s in their heyday. Playing the big hits of the 1950s, as well as with the secret 7" golddust that's been hiding in the attic, this show will provide a roster of early rock 'n' roll and rockabilly that will make you want to turn your fringe into a quiff, your Volkswagen into a Cadillac, and your Carling into a Cherry Coke.
Sparrow-Fart: "Very early in the morning!" Join Jay and Steve every week as they get up at sparrowfart purely for your entertainment. Can't sleep? Feel the need to listen to some really odd music in the early hours of the morning? This is the show for you. Join me as I play an eclectic mix of underground music, ranging from brass house , to expermental hip-hop, to math rock and North African electronic jazz funk stuff. It will be eye opening. If you need someone to talk to and you don't want to ask one of your flatmates how to use a tin opener, I've got that covered too. Jim. x

Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1400 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Today there are Record Store Day participating stores on every continent except Antarctica.
This is a day for the people who make up the world of the record store to come together and celebrate the unique culture and the special role these independently owned stores play in their communities.
