The mother of York St John student Megan Roberts who died after falling into the River Ouse in January has told URY News that "surely something now has to be done" to prevent future tragedies in York rivers.
Jackie Roberts told URY's Ben Bason that she hopes barriers will be put up along the river bank and more awareness is spread about the dangers of the river.
The comments come days after the body of missing Ben Clarkson was found in the River Foss and as the police, council, university staff and voluntary groups meet to discuss river safety in the city.
Hear an excerpt of the interview with Jackie below, and to hear it in full tune into URY News's special programme on river safety on Wednesday 30th April (Week 2) at 6pm.
