The following is a list of user-facing changes to URY's Computing systems over the 2013 Chirstmas break. For Computing technical details, please refer to Ceedox.

Shows & Presenting

  • Mixcloud: All shows broadcast from the start of this term will be uploaded to MixCloud unless you opt-out. Shows cannot be uploaded to Mixcloud if you did not complete an accurate tracklist or played less than 8 tracks.
  • Obit: We've change the way the obit procedure works. Please re-read the EMERGENCY OBIT PROCEDURE document in the studio during your next show to familiarise yourself with the changes.

Studio Information Service

  • We've refreshed SIS to give it a look and feel that is consistent with our website, Show Planner and MyURY.
  • The Webcam selector in SIS is now fixed - use it to choose what webcam is displayed on RadioPlayer to your listeners.
  • The news tab now gives you direct access to IRN - the source of our national news stories.
  • The schedule tab is now fixed.
  • The next time you log into SIS, you'll see a Getting Started message that will walk you through the changes.

Campus Jukebox

  • Improvements to the magic playlists functionality now we have a term's worth of feedback. A lot less cleaning windows, a lot more good music!
  • Requests are no longer exempt from the 6 hour replay rule
  • User requests are now interleaved with standard playout content
  • Track requesting now searches on artist as well as track title
  • The Campus Playout Service has finally been finished - listen out for us in The Glasshouse and other campus bars from now on!

Timelord

  • Improvements to the way Timelord handles there not being another show scheduled
  • Improvements to the way Timelord displays DEAD AIR alerts
  • The OBIT alert is now activated in the event of the obit system being triggered

Under-the-hood Notes

  • We've been making further changes to the way mailing lists are generated. Let us know if anything is seeming funky!
  • We've now got far better formal documentation on many of our day-to-day processes. Some of us are going away forever soon, and figure we should leave the freshers with something.
  • We've changed how our login system works behind the scenes. As well as being more secure, if you're a current University member, you can log in with your IT Services credentials.
  • The computing secret 2013 project is progressing well... you might come across bits of it later this term.
