This is a little howto on how to end your show.

HowTo

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, including your show. Here's a rundown of what to do.

Standard Procedure

Usually, this is the correct procedure to run through at the end of your show:

News

It is required that you lead in to some form of news programming at the end of each hour. You do this with a standard news intro:

  1. At XX:59:45, play the Flagship News IN jingle. You can use the studio clock for timing; it will tell you when the intro should be started.
    • Don't continue playing music, go into the news intro as soon as the studio clock countdown expires. It is always more professional to stop a song early and link out of it into the news intro than going straight from the middle of a song to the intro, but some intro is better than no intro.
    • Also, saying self-referential things like "Now we have to do the news intro" sounds silly and you should try not to do that either!
  2. Say the words that come up on the studio clock. If the studio clock isn't working, then usually the correct magickal words are "Across campus on 1350AM and online at ury.org.uk, this is URY News".
  3. Fade the NEWS fader up (usually on the left of the desk). You can keep the news bed going as long as the news can be heard comfortably over the top of it.

After News

The news feed lasts until 2 minutes past the hour. This gives you two minutes to prepare for the next show:

  1. If the next show is URY Jukebox, just wait for News to finish, then fade Jukebox up on the desk and switch the studio selector to Jukebox.
  2. Otherwise, make sure the next show is in and preparing for their show, and that you are prompt in clearing away from yours.
  3. If the next show has not arrived by the time News finishes, also switch back to Jukebox. It's courteous to stay for a few minutes in case the next presenter is running late and nobody else is in URY.

Exceptions

Show before Newshour

Do not go into the news jingle; instead, just put a song on at a few minutes before the end of the show that will keep playing until News Team are ready to go into their show.

Last show of day

As normal, but remember to turn the studio off.
