It is unclear when the need to maintain the Trasmitter was first added to the constitution, but it was noted during a review in preparation for v2.0 of the constitution. The then Chief Engineer, [[Tom Haines]], was approached by [[Lloyd Wallis]] to ask what the Trasmitter is and how it was doing.

Some time later, he triumphantly returned from his quest to find this thing he was supposed to be maintaining. Holding it firmly in his hands, he presented the small object, on which the word "Trasmitter" had been written scruffily and hastily.
 
 
 
=== Demise of the Trasmitter ===
 
It was concluded that the Chief Engineer role is generally held by someone who is more capable at maintaining a "Transmitter" rather than a trasmitter. As a result the Constitutional responsibilities were updated - especially as it was noted that it turned out we hadn't noticed nobody ever looked after the transmitter.
 
 
 
Committee failed to find a replacement role in which to assign trasmitter maintenance; its location is no longer known.
