URY Speech Team

Welcome to the home of URY Speech. On these pages you will find all the details of the organisation of the Speech Team, its aims and its headlining shows.

Aims

URY Speech's primary aim is to work to extend URY's output of speech based broadcasting.

  • Introduce original and innovative material to its remit
  • Act as a platform for students of the University in helping to develop their material and giving it a voice across campus
  • To produce programmes which cater to a wide range of students and other listeners broadcasting debate, opinion and review from an objective and fair viewpoint
  • To continue to develop and widen URY's speech based remit across the schedule through quality, informative and entertaining programming

Organisation

Here you will find the outline of the structure, responsibilities and contact details of the URY Speech Team.

  • Head of Speech - The Head of Speech is responsible for the output of (and managing production for) the URY Speech Team. They should hold regular meetings with the speech team and be aware of the teams content.
  • They will act as producer of Speech Team programming where needed; eg. Speech Teams flagship URY Open Mic. They are the first contact for all production/presenting queries regarding speech team programming.
  • Assistant Head of Speech/Speech Editor - The Assistant Head of Speech is responsible for the management of URY Speech Team members. They will chair meetings and attend Station meetings in the absence of the HoS. They will act as producer of Speech Team programming where needed. They are the first contact for writers/actors regarding speech team programming.
  • In addition, they coordinate Non-Fiction Speech content (e.g film, art literature, culture, food/drink reviews/documentaries) and coordinate Fiction (e.g radio plays comedy shows, and dramas)
