This is where a channels dynamics settings can be altered. Each channel has two dynamics processors which can be inserted. One is a 'gate type' and the second is a 'Compression type'.

Both dynamics processors are parametric, which means that parameters such as attack, hold and release time (measured in milliseconds) can be adjusted. Not every compressor/gate will let you do this.
