==== Warnings ====

There are 2 kinds of warnings that the Programming Team can issue on any occasion, should they see fit. Inappropriate behaviour, misuse of URY property, breach of URY rules and breach of Ofcom rules are the most sensitive occasions in which warnings will be considered.

;Informal Warning

:Any member of URY may be issued with an informal warning in the event that he or she commits an offence that the Programming Team considers noteworthy, relatively minor, inappropriate or unacceptable. If you receive an informal warning and repeat the infraction warned against, you will receive a formal warning.

;Formal Warning

:Any member of URY may be issued with a formal warning at the discretion of the Programming Team. The person in question need not have received any informal warnings nor committed previous offences. In the event that he or she breaches URY rules, Ofcom rules or behaves otherwise inappropriately, the Programming Team may decide to contact the member in question and/or issue a formal warning. If you receive a formal warning and repeat the infraction warned against, your show can be suspended or taken permanently off-air.

==== Suspension ====

The Programming Team can suspend a presenter on any occasion for as long as they see fit.

==== Expulsion ====

The Programming Team can decide to cancel a show or ban a presenter from doing a show on any occasion. Presenters may be banned from Studio 1 or URY as a whole.

==== Appeals Procedure ====

If your show is suspended it will be retained virtually on the system for one week, though you will be unable to present this show. Any appeals against the decision can be made to the Station Management within this time. If no appeal is made, the show will be removed permanently from the schedule. If an appeal is made, the presenter will be invited to meet with the Station Manager, Assistant Station Manager, Programme Controller and Assistant Programme Controller to make their case. All decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.

The content of this How-To guide is for URY's Legacy 2012site system. This system was succeeded in August 2013 by 2013site and MyURY.

This is a tutorial on uploading podcasts to the URYPlayer system.

Using the website admin

Currently there is no MyURY/Members Internal module for uploading podcasts, so the main way to upload them is the same way Computing do them. Don't worry - this process will get simpler and simpler as the website matures, and may be replaced with a more user-friendly manner later.

Log onto SiteAdmin

  1. Go to https://ury.york.ac.uk/admin (not HTTP, not ury.org.uk) and, if prompted, select "Use your URY credentials".
    The requirement to use https://ury.york.ac.uk specifically is an unintentional issue and will hopefully be fixed later.
  2. Go to uryplayer -> Podcasts -> Add.
    If you do not see this or are denied access, email Computing Team so they can give you podcasting permissions. In the future, this will be automatic.

The easy bits

  1. Select someone as the podcast Creator.
  2. Approver is currently unused, so you can leave it blank if you want.
  3. Upload your audio into the File box. Your file MUST be in MP3 format (preferably 44.1KHz 192bps). Uploading WAVs will NOT work and in future will not be possible.

Branding packages

  1. To save on some time, if your podcast is a regular one like Newshour or Speech Team, click on Add another Branding Package and check the Package drop-down box to see if your podcast falls under any of the categories. This will automatically assign images and a default title and description to your podcast.
  2. You can apply as many branding packages as you want, but some packages take precedence over others.

Adding a title and description

  1. To assign a title to your podcast, click Add another Associated Text Item and set the Key in the box that appears to "title" and the Value to your title.
    Don't worry about the other stuff to the right, unless you want to cancel some metadata or attribute it to someone else.
  2. Do the same thing for a podcast description, but with Key as "description".

Custom images

You can skip this bit if you don't want a unique image. You'll either get the grey Podcast image or, if you chose a branding package above, whatever that package specifies as the image.

  1. To assign your own image to the podcast, click Add another Associated Image, set Key to "player_image" and the Value to your image file.
    Currently there is no way to use existing images, so you will have to download existing images and reupload them..
  2. Then do the same for "thumbnail_image" - the former goes onto the player console and the latter goes into the podcast list.
  3. Now press Save and your podcast should upload. Phew!

If things go wrong

  1. If the uploader shouts at you and turns red in places, you probably filled a bit of the form out wrong. Check over for any mistakes and remember that all uploaded files will be blanked and you'll have to select them again.
  2. If bits of the interface are missing, you might not have enough privileges. Ask Computing Team to give you some.
  3. If in doubt, email Computing.
